Large facial pores

Many of my clients are unhappy with their large facial pores and often ask me if I can help them.

Yes, pore size can definitely be reduced, but not exactly by “shrinking”.

As you can guess, large pores are a characteristic of oily skin. Their size increases due to high sebum production and the accumulation of keratinocytes (dead cells) in them.

The reason for both super oiliness of the skin and hyperkeratinization we can find at a deeper internal level.

Pores cannot simply be shrunk and will continue to be enlarged until the problem is fundamentally affected.

Here’s what needs to be done to reduce pore size:

1. First step – reduce excessive oiliness of the skin.

This is often an “inside” job. After the processes in the body are balanced, the sebaceous glands (glands with external secretion) normalize their activity and the skin does not get oily as intensively as before.

How?

Inflammation in the body is reduced, general detoxification is improved, insulin sensitivity is improved, this leads to better functioning of the endocrine system and balancing of the hormones. For more information, look at other articles in the blog.

2. Second step – restore the hydro-lipid barrier of the skin.

The systematic and long-term use of aggressive cosmetics (to dry out pimples) damages the hydro-lipid barrier, the skin becomes unable to retain moisture, as a result of which a compensatory mechanism is activated and greasiness increases.

Unfortunately, most women learn this lesson the hard way and then it takes a lot of effort to restore their skin.
What do you need to do?
• Stop all acne products that dry out your skin.
• Include light moisturizing emulsions in your daily skin care routine.

3. Third step – clean your pores from the sebum and dead skin cells.

To clean the pores, use beta hydroxy acids twice a week. Beta hydroxy acid, more commonly known as salicylic acid, dissolves oil and clears pores of accumulated dead cells. Be careful if you have sensitive skin.

Note! if you skip directly to this step without paying attention to the previous two, you will probably not be satisfied with the results and your skin might get more irritated.

4. Fourth step – green clay mask

1-2 times a week, apply a homemade mask with green clay, which has a strong absorbing and purifying effect. All you need for the mask is a fine green clay powder and lavender floral water – mix a little of both together before applying to your skin.

Don’t forget to apply a cream with broad-spectrum UVA and UVB protection to your skin!
